Milwaukee, Wisconsin<\/b> \u2013 The Midwestern Governors Association (MGA) today wrapped-up a two-day meeting in\u00a0Milwaukee focused on strengthening the Midwest\u2019s propane supply chain and working with industry on\u00a0better preparing for the upcoming winter. The meeting brought together state, industry and federal\u00a0stakeholders to discuss steps taken last winter as well as preparations for the coming winter.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs winter quickly approaches, we wanted to bring together industry experts, and state and\u00a0federal government leaders, for in-person discussions to ensure we are prepared for the
\nupcoming propane season and everyone is on the same page,\u201d said Wisconsin Governor Scott\u00a0Walker, Chair of the MGA. \u201cWe are working together to prevent the impact of propane shortage.
\nConsumers can do your part by taking time to get propane tanks filled now, instead of waiting \u2013\u00a0which could save a significant amount of money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under Governor Walker\u2019s leadership as Chair, the MGA has convened a propane supply chain working\u00a0group consisting of state government agencies and industry representatives to identify opportunities to\u00a0better enhance consumer awareness and industry preparedness for the upcoming winter. This group\u00a0previously met in June in Madison, and continues to hold biweekly conference calls focused on individual\u00a0sectors of the supply chain to enhance regional cooperation.<\/p>\n

To help carry out these efforts, the MGA has received assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy.\u00a0This assistance has helped to bring states together to learn from each other and the federal government, as\u00a0well as hear from suppliers and marketers regarding propane supply and infrastructure developments.<\/p>\n
